Writing article? What a boring thing to do. Yes, boring it may be to some people, but article writing or marketing is one of the best ways any home business person can use to generate an endless flow of traffic to a website. But how willing are people to do this?

I love article marketing because it is the best form of advertising whatsoever you have on the internet. The reason is an article posted online has the potential of giving you steady traffic and website visitors for a very long time to come.

Please understand that your website is not going to be on Google's first page tomorrow. The strategy you are going to learn work, but the nature of the search engines is such that you will see results after a couple of weeks if your website is brand new.

There is another thing that I wanted to tell you today. Don't focus on getting a top ten ranking. Focus on building the number one website in your niche. Build an authority. The search engines will reward you overtime.

In conclusion, I would say that you must always go for quality in whatever you do. Write quality articles instead of hundreds of junk articles stuffed with keywords. Submit to the best directories instead of mass submission. And lastly, think long term strategy.

4. Briefly tell your readers what they will get or find if they click on the link to visit your website. Put the effort into having a good resource box as this will determine whether your readers will click through to your site.

These four tips will help you to create killer articles that sell your products or services even when you are not in front of your computer.

So many people look at article marketing as just a traffic source. And it is a traffic source. But it is so much more. You see, with most traffic sources, the impact of the traffic source ends once the traffic is delivered.

But with article marketing, the traffic source continues creating credibility long after the initial traffic is delivered.

In my case, with 1000's of live articles online, someone may join my list, and later decide they want more information about something online, then they go to read some of my other articles. The advantage to this is increased credibility, and that helps me generate more sales in the long run, as my subscribers continue to look to me for advice, knowing they can get it either directly from me or by reading more of my articles online.

This creates long term credibility online, which of course is what I am looking for.

Also, with article marketing, once I publish an article, I may get several visitors from that article the first month, much as any other traffic source would provide. But I will also get traffic the second month and the 3rd month and so on. I continue to get traffic from articles I submitted over a year ago - which means I am getting much more traffic than if I had paid for traffic one time up front.

These are just two of the reasons I favor article marketing over other traffic sources.

The bottom line is that article marketing is good for so much more than just traffic, but it helps me to build long term relationships online, hence increasing long term visitor value and profits.

Article marketing is a very popular method of advertising your online business. The idea is you write a bunch of informative articles on some aspect of your business and the distribute these articles on the internet.

A lot of internet marketers and affiliate marketers have dabbled in article marketing at some stage in there careers. A large proportion of these people have given up because they have not seen the results that they expected from article marketing.

So why are all these people failing? And why is there still a lot of enthusiasm for article marketing.

The simple answers is Article marketing works but only if done right.

And what is the right way to approach article marketing.

Article content The articles you write should be original and should contain interesting, useful information that will engage and intrigue your readers. Get into the mind of your prospective readers and hopefully future customers and try and see things from their perspective. Give them information that you know they want, rather than information you feel like giving them.

Make your article so full of great information that it becomes a reference for whatever it is you are writing about.

Rehashed content will only put people off. If your article is saying the same thing that hundreds of other articles have said, you appear stale and your readers may get the impression that your business is a 'me too' business.

Article marketing is only as effective as the reach of your articles.

If you post an article once a week and your article is taken up by 10 websites, at the end of a month you have 40 representations on the internet.

If however you post an article a day on the internet and the take up rate by other webmasters is still 10 per article, you suddenly have a web exposure of 300. The reach of 300 websites displaying an article of yours is by far greater than the reach of 40 websites. If you are considering article marketing, you need to be prepared to post at least one content rich, original article every single day.

Article Format:

Articles written for article marketing purposes must apply search engine optimization methods. This is important so that your articles rank high with the search engines.

Also you need to pay attention to the different parts of your articles. The headline must be a good attention grabbing headline, your body must be well thought out and your bio box must be carefully worded to increase your click through rate

Once you've managed to build your own website you are facing a huge dilemma: how to get your site indexed by search engines and how to get those one way links so valuable for SE.

One important way of getting one way links to your site is doing slow manual directory submissions.

You might ask why 'slow'?

As anyone may know, a site is not immediately listed by a directory. It all depends on their human editors and on their availability to check all sites submitted to their directory. It may take up to 2-3 months for a directory to accept a site, as they're all having a huge number of pending links each day.

Even if it takes quite a while for a directory to list a link, it is way better to spread this manual process over a few months period. This way the process will seem much more natural by search engines. No search engine will trust a large number of links of a new site being listed in a short time.

You may also ask why 'directory submissions' and why 'manual'?

Directory submissions are still significant as major search engines like Yahoo and MSN still use directories in their search algorithms. In case you activate in a really competitive field, you should know that links listed in various directories help stabilizing your rankings when algorithm changes happen.

The 'manual' feature of this process is essential, as there is no software to pick the right category in each directory, fill-in the captcha and submit the site. Submission softwares having the same results as manual submissions are just an illusion of their creators.

Another way of getting one way links is doing manual article submissions. This process should be done in the same slow motion as directory submissions. The submission process should be spread over a longer period of time in order to get that natural aspect that search engines like a lot.

Except the fact that you get 2 links out of each listed article, the main advantage is right in front of your eyes (you, the one reading this) - there is a lot of people reading these articles.

There are a lot of debates regarding article submissions. Rumors say that listing the same article to more directories, that may be duplicate content and search engines don't like that. However, nobody seems to have 'felt' such a penalty and no one knows for sure if that really exists.

One thing's for sure - search engines will only return the article that is on the most 'relevant' site, the rest of all those articles you submitted get tossed into the duplicate content 'filter' - never to be seen by search engine users.
